This Privacy Policy explains how Human Decode (“Human Decode,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, discloses, retains, and protects information when you visit humandecode.com, communicate with us, or use an application or integration we provide, including our integration with QuickBooks Online (collectively, the “Services”).
1. Information we collect
Information you provide
We may collect your name, business name, email address, account credentials, support requests, and other information you choose to provide.
QuickBooks Online information
If you connect a QuickBooks Online company, we access only the data authorized through the permissions shown during Intuit’s OAuth consent process. Depending on the features you use, this may include company profile information and accounting records such as customers, vendors, accounts, invoices, bills, payments, expenses, and related transaction details.
We also receive connection information necessary to operate the integration, including your Intuit company identifier (realm ID), OAuth access and refresh tokens, connection status, and synchronization metadata.
Technical information
We may automatically collect IP address, browser and device information, timestamps, pages viewed, diagnostic events, and security logs when you use the Services.
2. How we use information
- Provide, operate, maintain, and secure the Services.
- Connect to QuickBooks Online and perform the workflows you request.
- Authenticate users, maintain connections, and troubleshoot synchronization.
- Respond to support requests and communicate about the Services.
- Monitor performance, prevent fraud or misuse, and comply with legal obligations.
- Improve the Services using aggregated or de-identified information.
We do not use QuickBooks data for advertising, sell it, train general-purpose artificial intelligence models with it, or use it for purposes unrelated to providing the Services.
3. How we disclose information
We do not sell personal information or QuickBooks data. We may disclose information to service providers that host, secure, monitor, or support the Services, but only under contractual restrictions and only as necessary to perform services for us. We may also disclose information when required by law, to protect rights or safety, in connection with a business transaction, or at your direction.
We do not allow one customer to access another customer’s QuickBooks data or provide third parties access for their independent purposes.
4. Data retention and deletion
We retain information only for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the Services, maintain security and audit records, resolve disputes, and meet legal obligations. OAuth tokens are retained while your QuickBooks connection remains active. Operational logs are generally retained for up to 30 days unless a longer period is needed for security, support, or legal reasons.
When you disconnect QuickBooks or request deletion, we revoke or delete active OAuth credentials and delete QuickBooks data stored by the integration within 30 days, unless retention is legally required. Residual encrypted backup copies may remain for up to 90 additional days before automatic deletion and are not used for ordinary business purposes.
To request access, correction, export, or deletion, email hello@humandecode.com. We may verify your identity and authority over the relevant account before completing a request.
5. Security
We use administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect information, including access controls, encryption in transit, restricted production access, and security monitoring. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
6. International processing
Information may be processed in countries other than the country where you live. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards for international transfers and comply with applicable data-protection law.
7. Your privacy rights
Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, object to, or obtain a copy of your personal information, and to withdraw consent. You may exercise these rights by contacting us. You may also have the right to complain to a local privacy regulator.
8. Children
The Services are intended for businesses and are not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
9. Third-party services
The Services may connect to third-party products, including QuickBooks Online. Those services operate under their own terms and privacy policies. QuickBooks and Intuit are trademarks of Intuit Inc.; Human Decode is not endorsed or sponsored by Intuit.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy periodically. We will post the revised version here and update the effective date. If changes materially affect how we use previously collected information, we will provide additional notice where required.
